“The future is wide open and we are writing it moment to moment.”
— Pema Chodran

Whole life coaching is the path of self-discovery, personal and professional growth, and self-actualization. It is a special kind of inquiry where we step back and take an in-depth look at the trajectory of our lives and the kind of person we are becoming. Sometimes we do this at life's major transitions, because of career circumstances, because of unexpected challenges and disruptions in our lives, or because of spiritual restlessness or longing.

Whole life coaching is a way of achieving your goals and at the same time increasing your sense of presence as the author of your life. With roots in humanistic, transpersonal, and positive psychology,  whole life coaching takes a whole-person perspective to chart a course for developing your full potential and living a more meaningful, fulfilling life -- where your focus may subtly shift from "what do I want" to "what is life asking of me."

While the whole life coaching process is custom tailored to the unique needs of each client, there are common elements or phases for each engagement:

  1. Collaborative Planning: working together to clarify the goals, success criteria, expectations, and scope of our work together

  2. Self Discovery and Reflection: exploring personal history and aspirations, gaining perspective from assessments, doing shadow work, conducting personal experiments, and envisioning possible futures

  3. Charting a Course: setting goals and strategy, designing a workable action plan and practices for the changes you want to make

  4. Trimming the Sails: making adjustments to your practice over time

Whole life coaching offers flexibility and options in:

  • Length of sessions: from half hour to half day

  • Meeting locations: in the office, in home, in the community, out in nature, over the phone, and video conferencing

  • Selection and use of assessment tools: 360 feedback, Big 5 personality assessments, YSQ-L3 (Schemas), enneagram, interest and values inventories and positive psychology assessments

  • Use of supportive technology: video recording and feedback, online applications (e.g., HeartMath), smartphone apps, and wearable technology

Clients on this path can expect to experience:

  • A deeper sense of meaning, purpose, and connection

  • Increased success in personal and professional endeavors

  • Enduring capability and confidence in dealing with whatever life offers up (resilience)
